8th World Zoroastrian Youth Congress 2023 Weekly Newsletter

Updated: Jun 16, 2023

As the 8th World Zoroastrian Youth Congress 2023 in London draws closer, we are introducing a weekly Newsletter to ensure all delegates and members who are attending the congress can get regular updates, tips, and the progress made so far!

A Message From Our Co-Chairs

We are less than 2 months away from greeting the 8wzyc delegation here in London. Our team has worked tirelessly to bring together a diverse range of speakers and vibrant events and we can't wait for you all to enjoy congress. Socialising/networking has been at the heart of our organisation and it's our goal to galvanise the community, and positively shape the future of our religion.

Add-on event - JULY 23rd - The Guildhall

The Guildhall is steeped in British history. The building has been central to the City’s development since the Romans founded Londinium 2000 years ago and was used to reflect the power of London and its leaders. To this day, the Guildhall continues to play host to royal, national and international occasions, such as HM The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.

Think of the Guildhall as Harry Potter's Great Hall meets Hindu-gothic architecture. It is truly breath-taking, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see first-hand. Imagine getting to say, you were part of the first and maybe only cohort of Zoroastrians who collectively attended the Guildhall to celebrate the essence and ongoing survival of our wonderful religion! Tickets are limited, so once they're gone, they're gone!

Your Updates

The Guildhall

Coming to the Guildhall is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourselves in 600 years of tradition and beauty. It has survived the Great Fire of London in 1666, the Blitz of 1940 and gives you the Great hall in Harry Potter vibes, and who doesn't want that!

It has Hindu-gothic architecture showcases the beautiful, intricate high roofing and glass-stained windows!

Securing the Guildhall itself actually requires a thorough application process, which is no mean feat to pass. Through sheer luck and determination we have been able to be a part of the Guildhall's history.

3 reasons why you should come to the Guildhall

Value for money

Though the price of the Add one event sounds a bit much, but with the high cost of living, there are high prices everywhere you go. Meals typically cost over £30 without drinks and clubbing can cost you upwards of £70. So why not spend that money on an an unforgettable evening! If you are on the fence, and you may be receiving a subsidy such as the FEZANA Subsidy, buy your tickets as soon as you can because you have that unique opportunity to mingle with some of our really high-level guests!

Speakers update

Our team of speakers has created a comprehensive agenda for the 8wzyc event, covering a range of topics that are important for the wellbeing, education, and future of our community. The event will focus on three main themes:

1. Religious Education & Identity - This theme will provide delegates with insights into the rich history of Zoroastrianism and how it relates to their current values, behaviour, and overall identity.

2. Social Responsibility - This theme will address a range of issues, from sustainability to human rights, and explore the role that young Zoroastrians can play in tackling these challenges.

3. Networking and Opportunities - This theme will highlight career pathways in media, entrepreneurship, design and more, as well as opportunities to network and connect with others.

We have intentionally designed our themes to be versatile, with a variety of conversation styles such as panels, individual speakers, and debates. Our goal is to showcase different views and perspectives while promoting peaceful coexistence. At the heart of all our planned conversations is harmony. We believe that coming together, even when views differ, is essential for the survival of our religion and community.
